Herrera denies reaching agreement with Manchester United
The 24-year-old admits he is flattered by the interest from the Premier League champions but insists he is happy to stay with his current club
Athletic Bilbao midfielder Ander Herrera has revealed that there was never any agreement in place for him to join Manchester United.
The Premier League champions approached the Spanish club with an informal offer below the 24-year-old's €36 million buyout clause, however the bid was rejected.
Herrera, who admits he was flattered by United's interest, also claims that three lawyers - later reported to be 'imposters' - who were seen entering the offices of the Spanish football league [LFP] were not acting on his behalf.
"I reached no agreement with United," he told a press conference. "I knew that United were going to make an offer, but we all know the way the club acts [in these situations]. There are questions United must answer.
"I am proud they made an offer for me, and that Athletic wanted me [to stay]. I do not feel used by United, they made a formal offer. Athletic did not want to negotiate, I value that.
"I feel very flattered to see that one of the biggest clubs in the world like United made an offer for me. The lawyers who were at the LFP offices did not represent me. I do not know who they were.
"I don't discuss hypotheticals. I am just telling you how things were. At no moment did I speak with United. They had to pay the €36m clause and then seduce me more than Athletic. I never saw myself elsewhere."
Victor Moses excited to join Liverpool
The Nigeria international has left Stamford Bridge for Anfield Road on a year-long loan deal after falling down the pecking order in Jose Mourinho’s squad..
New Liverpool signee Victor Moses has expressed excitement at joining up with the Reds on transfer deadline day.
The Nigeria international made a late move to Anfield Road after falling down the pecking order at Chelsea since the return of Jose Mourinho to the side.
Moses will spend a year in Liverpool without the option of a permanent deal, something which shows he might still have a future at Stamford Bridge.
“Really excited to be joining Liverpool this season and can't wait to make my debut now,” Moses tweeted with a photo of him holding up the club’s jersey on Monday.
The 23-year-old is key to Nigeria’s plans for next year’s World Cup and will see this move to Liverpool as a means to guarantee playing time in preparation for Brazil.

Emmanuel Emenike glad to score after injury lay-off
The new Fenerbahce striker made his return after eight months and scored the opening goal against the Flames
Emmanuel Emenike got injured at the semi-final stage of the last Nations Cup and has not featured since that injury but he made his return to the Super Eagles on Saturday.
It was in a Group F final qualifying match against Malawi and he scored in the 45th minute to help his team to a 1-0 half-time lead.
“Definitely good to be back to the national team and to come back with a goal was very good,” Emenike said after the match.
“We knew we had to be relaxed as they needed to win and all we needed was a draw.”
Emenike also revealed that scoring at the end of the first half actually relaxed the players for the second half.
“After we scored we knew that Malawi would come out to try and get the equalizer and then we scored the second goal,” he added.
