For the first time in the awards' history, an individual has been recognised for his lifetime’s work.

BioShock has sold more than 5million copies and is the highest rated first-person shooter of all time.

Unveiled in Trafalgar square, this jumbo gadget has a whopping 27ft wide screen, and fully working keyboard to match.
Dizzee and Microsoft have teamed up to celebrate the launch of the new Surface 2 tablet.
Speaking about the new device Dizzee said “I’m never in one place for long – whether it’s in the studio, on tour, I’m always travelling about and now I can combine work and play on one device – works for me!”
This updated tablet now comes with a faster processor, higher resolution screen and both camera's have been upgraded.
Running on Windows latest operating system 8.1, it has the unique Click-in keyboard, which turns it from tablet to laptop in seconds.
So if you’re in London today (24th October) pop down and have a play on this giant gadget.
There's also plenty of Windows wizards with real Surface 2 tablets for you to try.
With a device this big we’re just glad Microsoft are picking up the electricity bill.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have already agreed ... they will keep their assets separate by drawing up a prenup before they tie the knot ... TMZ has learned.
Multiple sources connected with the couple tell us ... both Kanye and Kim are committed to the marriage and they are not signing a prenup because they're worried the relationship might fall apart. But they're both business people and know given their vast wealth it's just the smart thing to do to have a prenup.
Kim especially understands the importance of a prenup because her late father, attorney Robert Kardashian, told her over and over about the necessity of having clear contracts when it came to money.
We're also told ... even though they will keep their assets separate, they will have a fat joint account for living expenses that will probably approach the gross national product of a small country.
As for how much they have ... some reports place Kim's wealth at $40 mil and Kanye's at $90 mil. But we're told Kim's actually worth more than Kanye.

The embattled NBA player was also spotted with his estranged wife Khloe Kardashian yesterday for the first time in months as they made their way to Kris Jenner's home to provide some family support following the announcement of her split from husband Bruce.
Khloe has hinted that she plans to fight for her marriage in a series of tweets she posted yesterday but TMZ reported that she's still planning to divorce Lamar but is scared that taking the step may cause him to maybe commit suicide. Teenager with British passport banned from playing football in England
BARMY rules have banned a teenager with a British passport from playing football in England.
Canadian-born Brendan Norris, 17, is studying sport at Sparsholt College Wiltshire, which has links to Southampton FC.
He had hoped to join a football team at the college in a bid to realise his dream of becoming a professional player or coach.
But because he had played youth football in Canada for Kingston FC, he had to register with football's governing body FIFA to be eligible for the BTEC course in sport.
And despite Brendan's British citizenship through his English dad, FIFA denied his application.
It invoked rules designed to prevent child trafficking from the third world to ban him from playing.
Now the promising teenager, who moved to the UK with his family in February, has been sidelined from the college team.
The ruling even stops him from playing Sunday league football.
Brendan told the Daily Star Sunday: "I just don't get why it has happened. There are so many other players from around the world who get to come here to play football yet they have stopped me.
"It is frustrating and upsetting. FIFA are screwing with my future and they don't seem to care. I am at a stage where I want to play football competitively and learn from the great coaches here. I can't even play Sunday league football. It's unfair."
His dad Mike, 52, from Cambridge, has appealed to FIFA and the English Football Association but says he has hit a brick wall. "This ruling makes no sense. At first we thought it was a mistake but it has become even more frustrating as FIFA refuses to reverse its decision," he said.

Brendan will be playing football as part of his college course, it is intertwined with the course curriculum. "But FIFA ignore this and in doing so could have prevented Brendan completing his education.
"The FIFA rules were meant to prevent big clubs bringing minors in from developing countries then putting them on the street with no support when they failed to make it.
"Are FIFA saying Canada is a developing nation and that Brendan, who has the support of his family, is being trafficked? It's madness."
"Mike has blasted the UK government for its lack of support over the matter. He said: "It seems no one in government wants to upset FIFA or the FA. It's very nice how incompetence tends to rally all the bureaucrats together."
He said there were countless examples of other teens from abroad being cleared to play for English clubs.
"It seems if you have an agent and/or are part of a certain 'footballing boys club' the rules do not apply," he said.
Brendan was refused an International Transfer Certificate - used to govern moves for players under 18.
FIFA cited the sections of the rules that deal with player trafficking, saying: "The decision has been taken by a member of the competent body of FIFA. We cannot comment on the substance of the decision."
An FA spokesman said: "It's a decision FIFA, not the FA, have taken. There's not much more we can do."
A spokesman from the Department of Culture Media and Sport said: "It does seem odd that a young footballer who has a British passport and British parentage is blocked from playing college-level football in this country."
Man becomes world's first trillionaire thanks to bank glitch
THIS man was the world's richest man for a short period of time today after his account showed he had four trillion dollars (£622,394,000,000).
Unfortunately for Reggie Theus he was not financially the world's first trillionaire and in fact the bank had made a mistake in calculating his account details.
Despite dreaming of the courageous stunt of paying off the United States' multi-billion national debt, the restaurant manager's account was shortly restored back to its original amount.
He told US broadcaster KLTV: "Well, I was definitely surprised when I looked in my account and saw that much money in there."
"I looked it up and there’s never been a trillionaire before. I may be the first ever, so that’s pretty neat to be able to say."

Reggie now will have to start at square one in his search to be the world's richest man once again but he's along way off Carlos Slim who has topped the rich list four years running.
The 73-year-old Mexican was valued at $73 billion by Forbes in their annual billionaires list in March.
He sits above Bill Gates, who is in second, earning his fortune through soaring stock prices at his financial arm, Grupo Financiero Inbursa, and at his Grupo Carso industrial giant.
He also owns Pan-Latin American mobile company, America Movil, which is worth $36.3 billion

Passenger with no flying experience lands plane after pilot falls ill at controls
The passenger - with no experience of flying a plane - had no option but to take control of the aircraft and listen carefully to two instructors on the ground.
Incredibly, he managed to land safely and unhurt at Humberside International Airport last night.
An airport spokesman said: "The emergency was declared at 6.20pm by the pilot of a two-seater aircraft.
"Shortly afterwards he was taken ill and became unable to fly it and that responsibility then fell to his passenger.
"Humberside International Airport put into operation their emergency plan.

Despite a landing that was described as "heavy", it was said to be normal.
Witnesses described the plane bumping on the runway and sparks coming off the front of it.

Roy Murray, one of the flight instructors who helped the passenger land the plane, said that the passenger had no flying experience and did a "remarkable job".
He told the BBC: "He made quite a good landing actually.
"He didn't know the layout of the aeroplane, he didn't have lights on so he was absolutely flying blind as well.
"I think he'd flown once before as a passenger but never flown an aeroplane before."
He added: "It's a fantastic feeling, knowing I have achieved something and probably saved somebody's life.
"I think without any sort of talk-down he would have just gone into the ground and that would have been the end of it."
It is thought the pair left a small airfield near Doncaster early yesterday morning on a flight training day.
